Football icon Lionel Messi is reportedly considering his future in the sport following the death of his father, Jorge. The 39-year-old Argentina forward, currently under contract with Inter Miami until 2028, shared an emotional tribute to his father, stating, "I don't know how to carry on. I used to just play football, and now I'm really not sure if I'll carry on doing it for much longer."

Messi has had a remarkable career, scoring a combined 921 goals across his time with Barcelona, Paris St-Germain, Inter Miami, and the Argentina national team. His career highlights include a hat-trick in El Clasico at 19, a memorable solo goal against Getafe in 2007, and scoring in his first Champions League final against Manchester United in 2009.

He also holds the record for most goals for Barcelona with 672 and a record 91 goals in a single year in 2012. Messi secured his first senior international trophy with Argentina at the Copa America in 2021, followed by a World Cup triumph in 2022, where he was named player of the tournament. He has won a record eight Ballon d'Or awards, with his most recent in October 2023.
