Liverpool have unveiled permanent memorials in tribute to former women's team manager Matt Beard, who died on 20 September 2025 at the age of 47. Tributes have been placed outside Anfield and at the club's training ground.
Beard led Liverpool to back-to-back Women's Super League titles in 2013 and 2014, and secured their return to the WSL in 2022 by winning the FA Women's Championship. He was twice named WSL manager of the season and inducted into the WSL Hall of Fame earlier this year.
A private ceremony attended by players, staff, and Beard's family saw the unveiling of a memorial garden at the Melwood training ground. Additionally, a commemorative tree was planted in his honour on 97 Avenue outside Anfield Stadium.
Liverpool's home Premier League match against Fulham on Saturday will be dedicated to the league's Together Against Suicide initiative. This campaign, running from 4 to 14 September, aims to raise awareness of suicide prevention and available support. A group of Reds supporters will also walk from Melwood to the Brewdog Stadium to raise money for Andy's Man Club before Sunday's WSL match against Tottenham.
