Animals at London Zoo are currently undergoing their annual weigh-in, a process designed to monitor their health and wellbeing. Zookeepers are working to measure various creatures, including birds, reptiles, fish, and mammals.
Each measurement taken is recorded in the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS). This global database facilitates the sharing of important information on thousands of endangered species among animal carers and conservationists.
While many animals are trained to use the scales, others require coaxing with snacks. Out of the zoo's more than 14,000 animals, keepers will measure and log the weight of approximately 400.
