A man has admitted 60 offences against his wife, including multiple counts of rape, assault by penetration, and administering a substance with intent. The offences are reported to have occurred without her knowledge for more than 20 years.
The husband, who cannot be named to protect his wife's anonymity, entered his pleas at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. He became visibly emotional as he repeated the word guilty to the charges.
The wife watched the proceedings from the public gallery, supported by family members. The husband, from Stockport, Greater Manchester, will be sentenced at the conclusion of the trial.
Twelve other men deny multiple serious sexual offences against the same woman, while a 13th man previously admitted sexual offences against her.
