Jack Johns has admitted stabbing and killing his fiancée, Malgorzata Wiktor, at her home in Belle Isle, Leeds, West Yorkshire Police said. The 52-year-old pleaded guilty to murder at Leeds Crown Court.
Police said Ms Wiktor's son called 999 on the morning of 11 June after finding his mother had not arrived at work and he could not get into her house. Officers forced entry and found Johns unconscious on top of Ms Wiktor, with a claw hammer and knife nearby. Ms Wiktor was pronounced dead a short time later.
The couple had been in a relationship for about six months and had recently become engaged. Ms Wiktor's family and friends reportedly described Johns as having behaved in a controlling way towards her and "love bombing" her.
Johns, of School Street in Tingley, has been remanded into custody and is due to be sentenced on 9 November.
