A man and two boys were rescued from the sea at Fistral Beach in Newquay on Wednesday night after being stranded on rocks by the incoming tide. A major rescue operation was launched at approximately 19:05 BST.
Two coastguard teams, two RNLI lifeboats, and a coastguard helicopter were deployed to the incident. The group was pulled into one of the lifeboats with the assistance of two local surfers.
Jill Rylance from Falmouth Coastguards stated that multiple 999 calls were received regarding people in difficulty at Fistral Beach. She confirmed that all individuals were rescued safely and transferred to the care of the ambulance service ashore. During the return to shore, the lifeboat also encountered and took ashore two other children who had got into difficulty.
Fistral Beach was the location of a double fatality in July when a father and daughter from Doncaster died after getting into trouble in the sea while fishing.
