A man has been arrested after four pedestrians were injured in a hit-and-run incident in Leicester city centre on Saturday evening. The collision occurred on Vaughan Way, at a crossing near the junction with Highcross Street, at 22:12 BST.
Leicestershire Police stated that a silver vehicle was involved and failed to stop at the scene. Three men were taken to hospital with serious injuries, while a fourth man was able to get up and walk away without needing hospital treatment.
Following inquiries, a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol, and causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.
Police have identified a vehicle believed to be involved in the collision and inquiries are ongoing. Officers have urged anyone who witnessed the incident, or the lead-up to it, to come forward, particularly those with relevant dashcam footage.
