A 39-year-old man has been charged with several offences after a bus was hijacked in County Tyrone on Saturday. The charges include kidnapping, hijacking, aggravated vehicle taking causing injury, and possession of an offensive weapon.
Police said the incident began shortly before 13:00 BST on Saturday in the Beltany Road area of Omagh. The bus driver was reportedly threatened at knifepoint, and although passengers were allowed to leave, the driver remained on board.
A pursuit ensued along the A5, covering nearly 20 miles through Victoria Bridge and Sion Mills, before the bus was stopped in the Head of the Town area of Strabane. A man, aged in his 30s, was removed from the bus and arrested, according to a Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) spokesperson.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) stated that two people were taken to South West Acute Hospital for treatment.
