Man charged after bus stolen and crashed in Telford

A 33-year-old man has been charged following an incident in Telford where a single-decker bus was stolen and crashed into parked cars.

  • Ali Balhad, 33, faces charges including aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, and robbery.

A man has been charged after a single-decker bus was stolen and subsequently crashed into a row of parked cars in Shropshire.

Ali Balhad, 33, is set to appear in court facing charges including aggravated vehicle taking, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, robbery, thefts from a store, and three counts of criminal damage. He is also charged with assault, attempted grievous bodily harm, and threats to kill over the incident.

West Mercia Police stated that armed officers were deployed to Court Street, Telford, at approximately 18:35 BST on Friday. The bus driver was treated by paramedics for minor injuries, and no one else was believed to have been hurt.

Mr Balhad has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Telford Magistrates Court on Monday.
