A 22-year-old Somali national, Abdifatah Yusuf Adani, has been charged with attempted murder following an incident at the Stanwell Hotel in Surrey. The hotel is used to house asylum seekers.
Armed officers were dispatched to the hotel, near Heathrow Airport, on Saturday evening after reports of a stabbing. A hotel staff member in his 30s was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and is now in a stable condition.
Mr Adani remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Staines Magistrates Court on Monday morning. Surrey Police stated there is a heightened police presence in the area and they are not pursuing anyone else in connection with the incident.
