Marcus Mumford, frontman of the English folk band Mumford & Sons, has spoken about his travel experiences, including his most recent trip to Phoenix, Arizona. The band played Innings Festival in Phoenix on the day their latest album, Prizefighter, was released. Following this, they travelled to New York for release week activities.
Mumford shared that he feels happiest by the sea or in the mountains, specifically mentioning Les 3 Vallées in the French Alps. For sea locations, he cited California, where he was born, and the West Country in the UK, where he currently lives. He recalled childhood holidays spent in the West Country or Scotland.
Among places that lived up to expectations, Mumford highlighted Le Coucou in Méribel, which he visited with his wife, actor Carey Mulligan. He noted the snowy mountain views and the service provided by staff. He also expressed an affection for Las Vegas, despite others disliking it, recalling a road trip there at 18 and a memorable incident involving room service on an early tour.
Milan is currently a favourite city for Mumford, who finds it compelling through the eyes of his friend, designer Umit Benan. He also mentioned The New Evaristo Club, known as Trisha's, on Greek Street in London, as a great place for people-watching and a partial inspiration for the song "Prizefighter."
