Maria Bartiromo's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has strongly denied reports that she was fired from her role at Fox News. This denial comes after Fox announced Bartiromo's departure on Thursday, stating it was effective immediately but offering no explanation.
Fox News issued a press release saying, "Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media," and added, "We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 and a half years and wish her all the best on her next chapter."
Reports from Status News on Thursday suggested Bartiromo was dismissed for allegedly divulging the network's editorial guidance to the White House. Status News claimed Fox had instructed senior employees to avoid covering Donald Trump's July primetime address, where he shared unproven claims about the 2020 election, and that Bartiromo, a Trump supporter, shared this message with the White House.
Mr. Freedman, Bartiromo's attorney, called her "one of the hardest-working journalists throughout her award-winning career" and refuted the claims made by Status News. He stated, "The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false." Fox did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
