UK NEET numbers fall in Q2 2026, but remain third highest in Europe

Despite this small decline, the UK's NEET rate remains significant, ranking as the third highest in Europe. More than one-in-eight young people in this age group are currently not engaged in work or training.
The Milburn Review is currently examining this issue, with its final recommendations expected in autumn 2026. Young people who are NEET have shared their experiences, with some highlighting the need for support in finding motivation, building confidence, and identifying career paths.
