Defending MotoGP champion Marc Marquez has surged to the top of the drivers' standings following his victory at the Misano circuit in San Marino on Sunday. The Spaniard, 33, also secured a sprint-race win on Saturday, completing a dominant weekend.

Marquez, riding a Ducati, finished the race 0.657 seconds ahead of his brother Alex, with Pedro Acosta taking third place. Italian Ducati rider Marco Bezzecchi, who started on pole, crashed out on the second lap of his home grand prix.

The seven-time champion is now level on 274 points with previous leader Jorge Martin, who finished fifth.
