Two 15th-century rings, uncovered by a metal detectorist in North Yorkshire, are scheduled for auction next week. Andrew Riley, 71, discovered the medieval rings at a farm near Northallerton within a four-month period.
One ring has been named the 'blood of Christ' ring by auctioneers, while the other is an iconographic ring of St Margaret of Antioch. These items could collectively achieve more than £10,000 at auction.
Mr Riley, who resides near Middlesbrough, plans to share the proceeds with the landowner. He began metal detecting in the 1990s and resumed the hobby approximately four years ago.
The rings were formally declared treasure following an inquest at Northallerton Coroner's Court. They are anticipated to yield between £5,000 and £7,000 for one, and £4,000 and £6,000 for the other, at a Noonans Mayfair auction on 22 September.
