Mikel Arteta has committed his future to Arsenal, signing a new four-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2030. The deal, announced on Wednesday, is reportedly worth more than £20m a season, positioning Arteta as the best-paid manager in the Premier League.
Arteta, who will mark his seventh anniversary in the job in December, has seen his influence at Arsenal steadily increase since his appointment. He now has a direct line to co-chair Josh Kroenke and reportedly has a major say over most significant decisions, both on and off the pitch.
His impact is evident in the club's recent decision against a major expansion of the Emirates Stadium, which is believed to have followed Arteta's concerns about potential disruption. He also reportedly had the final say on not pursuing interest in forward Malick Fofana, prioritising opportunities for 16-year-old Max Dowman.
Arteta, who led Arsenal to the Premier League title in May, stated that this new contract "is only the beginning" of what the club hopes will be a trophy-laden dynasty under his leadership.
