Mohamed Salah 'in talks' with Trabzonspor for free transfer

Mohamed Salah is reportedly in discussions to join Turkish club Trabzonspor on a free transfer, with the club chairman hoping a deal will be finalised this week.

  • Trabzonspor has initiated transfer discussions with Mohamed Salah, who is a free agent.
  • Salah is expected to undergo medical checks in Istanbul on Wednesday.
  • The club chairman anticipates the contract signing will likely occur on Thursday.

Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor has announced it has begun transfer discussions with Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward is available on a free transfer after departing Liverpool at the end of last season.

Trabzonspor Chairman Ertugrul Dogan stated that while the transfer is not yet complete, Salah is expected to arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday for medical checks. He would then head to Trabzon to sign with the club, with the contract signing likely on Thursday.

Salah left Liverpool this summer after nine years, during which he scored 257 goals in 442 appearances. He won the Premier League twice and the Champions League once with the club. In the 2024-25 season, Salah achieved 29 Premier League goals and 18 assists, setting a record for goal involvements in a 38-game campaign.

His output reportedly decreased last season, with seven goals and seven assists in 27 league matches, and he was benched in Champions League games, leading to a public disagreement with then-manager Arne Slot.

Trabzonspor finished third in the Super Lig last season and will participate in the Europa League playoff round.
