Britain's Anna Morris has achieved a remarkable hat-trick of gold medals at the Track Cycling World Championships in Shanghai. Morris, 31, partnered with 19-year-old Erin Boothman to win the women's madison on Saturday, accumulating 40 points and finishing ahead of France and Japan.
Morris expressed her astonishment, stating, "I am quite speechless. It is going to take a while to sink in and reflect on it." She is the first woman to win the team pursuit, omnium, and madison in a single championships since the women's madison was introduced in 2017. Her previous golds came in the women's omnium on Friday and the team pursuit on Thursday, alongside Boothman, Josie Knight, and Millie Couzens.
Adding to Britain's success, England's Millie Couzens, 22, secured another gold medal on Saturday in the all-British women's individual pursuit final. Couzens led from the start, clocking a time of four minutes 21.505 seconds to beat Josie Knight by half a second, earning her second gold of the championships. Britain currently leads the medals table with a total of six golds.
