Staff at Alnwick Brewery in Northumberland have made a home for a hen and her chicks after the family chose the distillery as a place to settle. The hen, named Josephine by staff, arrived at the brewery in May 2026.
Brewery manager Phillipa Jasinek said staff were "delighted" in July when Josephine returned with a brood of chicks after a disappearance. Staff had consulted local farmers for advice on caring for the hen, with one employee driving to Scotland to collect a wooden house for her.
Ms Jasinek said Josephine has become a "brewery celebrity" and the team hopes she will stay with her family. The brewery is also considering naming a limited edition beer after Josephine.
