A murder investigation has been launched after a man in his 40s was found shot dead inside a vehicle in east London, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.
Officers were called to St Bartholomew's Road, Newham, at approximately 03:00 BST, where they discovered a man with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. A crime scene remains in place on St Bartholomew's Road, and no arrests have yet been made.
Det Ch Insp Dan Whitten stated that police are doing everything possible to determine what happened and trace those responsible. He added that there would be an increased police presence in the area as inquiries continue and asked anyone with information to contact the police.
