Full-back Nel Metcalfe has been selected for Sean Lynn's Wales squad for their WXV double-header against Japan, offering her a chance to restart her international career. The 21-year-old Gloucester-Hartpury player has recovered from a knee injury that sidelined her for the 2026 Women's Six Nations.
Metcalfe was part of an extended training squad for recent WXV matches but did not feature in the final matchday selections. The 30-strong squad also includes uncapped props Stella Orrin and Crystal James, and will be co-captained by flankers Alex Callender and Kate Williams.
Wales will face Japan at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo on Saturday, 24 October, followed by a second encounter at Kumagaya Rugby Stadium in Saitama Prefecture seven days later.
