A new bus service for dogs, named Billy's Bus, began operations in October 2025. The service transports dogs to a private dog park for exercise when their owners are unable to walk them.
The bus covers a 10-mile radius of Leeds, collecting up to 15 dogs per trip. The vehicle has been adapted with individual raised pods, safety restraints, harnesses, and water bowls for each dog. There is a ratio of one person to six dogs on board to ensure their comfort and safety.
Before joining the service, all dogs undergo a trial to ensure they are suited to the environment and get along with other passengers. The dogs spend a couple of hours at the private park, where they can run free or use play equipment such as a seesaw, swing, and trampoline.
Plans are in place for the service to expand nationally.
