A new film, 'Tenzing', aims to restore the Nepalese-Indian mountaineer Tenzing Norgay's achievement to the centre of the narrative surrounding the 1953 Mount Everest expedition. The film features Tibetan actor Genden Phuntsok as Tenzing Norgay and Tom Hiddleston as Edmund Hillary.

The movie depicts the triumphant ascent of Mount Everest by Norgay and New Zealander Hillary. Screenwriter Luke Davies and director Jennifer Peedom intend to highlight Norgay's unparalleled knowledge and climbing skills, which led to his promotion to a full team member.

The film portrays Tenzing as the hero, interspersing the climb narrative with flashbacks to his early life, including an encounter with George Mallory. Willem Dafoe plays expedition leader John Hunt, and Johnny Flynn appears in a cameo as Mallory.
