New training materials designed to empower teachers in England to better support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) have been launched. These free, adaptable, and practical materials, developed by Ambition Institute, are now available for schools and post-16 settings.
The resources aim to integrate inclusion into every classroom, offering techniques such as breaking down instructions and pre-teaching specialist vocabulary. Alongside this, online training for early years staff, created and delivered by Dingley’s Promise, will support age-appropriate inclusive practices from day one.
This initiative marks the first phase of the government's £200 million investment into teacher training to enhance support for children and young people with SEND. Further resources are expected to be published in January and April next year, with new fully funded training courses for teachers, leaders, and support staff planned for September next year.
