A new Snalltaget rail service is now operating between Malmo, Sweden, and Oslo, Norway. The full journey on this route takes a little over six and a half hours.
The service includes stops at cities such as Gothenburg and Trollhättan. Previously, there were no direct routes from Malmo to Trollhättan.
Standard tickets for the Malmo to Oslo route are available for £12. Private compartments can be booked for an additional £78.
The trains on this route are described as dated, with reclining seats and plug sockets. Luggage space is available on overhead shelves and at the ends of carriages. A dining car, known as Krogen, is sometimes available, though it was missing on some journeys for operational reasons.
Next year, European Sleeper is scheduled to launch a train service between Amsterdam and Malmo. This future connection, combined with the new Malmo-Oslo route, could make travel from London to Oslo feasible with two changes.
