A teenage girl was hospitalised after falling from a moving double-decker bus onto a road in Sydney's northern beaches on Monday evening. Emergency services were called to Manly Road at Seaforth after the incident involving a B-Line bus near the Spit Bridge.
The teenager received treatment at the scene for head and hip injuries before being transported to Royal North Shore hospital. A spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that she remains in a stable condition.
Transport for NSW stated that the bus involved has been withdrawn from service. An investigation is being conducted by bus operator Keolis Northern Beaches and Transport for NSW. The Office of Transport Safety Investigations has also been informed.
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) is investigating reports from drivers that doors on the B-Line fleet have opened unexpectedly in the past. RTBU NSW Tram and Bus Division secretary Peter Grech stated that Keolis Northern Beaches must explain how a door on one of its buses reportedly failed.
