Indie developer Marco Arment, known for apps like Overcast and Instapaper, has released Unforgetful, a new application for iOS and Mac. The app is designed as an alternative to Apple's Reminders for individuals who struggle with ignoring or accidentally dismissing tasks.
Unforgetful operates by integrating with a user's current Apple Reminders database. Arment stated that while Siri is effective at creating tasks in Apple's Reminders app, the native app's interface and functionality did not suit his needs, leading him to never open it.
The new app addresses issues such as accidental dismissal of reminders and missed notifications when a time is not specified. Unforgetful ensures notifications repeat until a task is completed and deleted. Its snooze feature scales intervals as tasks are repeatedly snoozed, without overwhelming the user with multiple simultaneous alerts.
The app maintains a simple design, avoiding tags, different views, or advanced organizational tools. It also includes an in-app microphone for voice reminders and widgets for the Lock Screen and Control Center. Unforgetful is priced at $19.99 per year.
