New York Times Executive Fatally Shot; In-Laws Face Murder Charges

A New York Times executive was fatally shot in California, with his 77-year-old parents-in-law arrested and facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder.

Jonathan McKinsey, a New York Times director of engineering for games player experience, was fatally shot in California. Police said Mr McKinsey, 40, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a car park in Dublin, 35 miles west of San Francisco, on Saturday afternoon.

His parents-in-law, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, felony conspiracy, wilful discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and child endangerment.

Witnesses reportedly heard gunshots before seeing the victim on the ground. The couple were arrested minutes later by an officer passing by the scene, according to a witness. Police have not disclosed any motive for the killing.

Mr McKinsey's death was confirmed by The New York Times. His body was found outside the Dublin Sports Grounds on Thursday afternoon, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
