Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, has been interviewed by the standards commissioner as part of an investigation into a £5m gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne. The interview, which reportedly lasted about half an hour, took place last month.
The investigation aims to determine if Mr Farage should have declared the money. Mr Farage has stated the gift was for his personal security and was a personal, not political, matter, therefore not requiring declaration.
The interview suggests the investigation process is nearing a conclusion, though Reform UK is not believed to have been informed that the report is finished. If a serious breach of rules is found, the matter could be passed to the standards committee of MPs and lay members.
