Nottingham City Council is set to introduce new support measures to help residents and businesses with the cost of living. This follows an underspend of more than £20m in the 2025-26 financial year, as announced earlier this summer.
Ethan Radford, the council's deputy leader, stated that details are being finalised for a series of one-off policies. These measures are intended to provide an immediate injection of funding to alleviate pressure.
Some of the underspend will also be allocated to fixing potholes and enhancing city centre cleansing, including tackling chewing gum, bins, and graffiti. However, the funds will not be used to offset any potential future increases to council tax.
The use of these funds will be discussed at a council executive board meeting today, Tuesday, and will require approval from the full council.
