At least one person has died and 10 people were injured after a car crashed into a group of people near a train station in Caen, northern France, according to police. Local officials confirmed to the BBC that one person has been arrested and taken into custody following a major emergency response.
The incident took place near a bar, with local media reporting that a fight had broken out there before the crash. Detectives from Caen's Specialised Crime Division are leading the investigation.
A spokesperson for the local administration of Calvados confirmed that four individuals are receiving treatment in a nearby hospital's emergency ward, while six others are being treated for less serious injuries. Locals have been advised to avoid the area around the Caen train station.
