Ospreys began their 2026-27 Challenge Cup journey with a professional 39-14 bonus-point victory over Black Lion in Tbilisi, Georgia. Mark Jones' side ran in seven tries at Avchala Stadium, limiting their hosts to two efforts.
The Welsh team established a comfortable 22-7 lead by half-time, with tries from back-row trio Gwilym Evans, Morgan Morse, and Huw Sutton, alongside wing Luke Morgan. Further scores in the second half came from Morgan, hooker Lewis Lloyd, and prop Kian Hire.
Despite fly-half Lawson Creighton's struggles from the kicking tee, Ospreys maintained control throughout the match. Black Lion, who had previously upset Scarlets and French teams, never truly threatened the Welsh side.
Ospreys will now return to Swansea for upcoming United Rugby Championship (URC) derbies against Dragons and Cardiff at their revamped St Helen's home before the November international break. Their Challenge Cup fixtures in December and January include hosting Harlequins, an away game at Toulon, and a home match against Vannes.
