A serving police officer has denied causing the death of a 16-year-old boy in a crash involving an electric bike and two cars. Emergency services were called to Chilwell Lane, Bramcote, on 28 September 2025 following reports of the crash. Ryley Hutson, the electric bike rider, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Daniel Cartwright, 31, a police constable with Bedfordshire Police, was off-duty at the time of the incident. He was later charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Mr Cartwright, from Kettering in Northamptonshire, entered a not guilty plea at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday. His unconditional bail was renewed, and a trial date has been set for 11 January.
