Cyclist Tom Pidcock has stated he wanted to "stop racing" after two of his Pinarello-Q36.5 team-mates were reportedly hit by a police vehicle at the Tre Valli Varesine race in Italy. The incident occurred with six laps remaining of the finishing circuit, with the police vehicle reportedly travelling the wrong way down the course.
Pidcock, who finished second in the one-day race, told Eurosport he was "mad" after Marcel Camprubi and Thomas Gloag were knocked off their bikes. While Spain's Camprubi was able to continue, British cyclist Gloag stopped and required stitches on his knee.
Camprubi posted a picture of a broken bike on Instagram Stories, stating: "Sad that you have to risk your life to race, one month after a tragic accident." BBC Sport has contacted race organisers and local police for comment regarding the incident.
