Police motorbike collides with two cyclists during Italian race

Two cyclists, Marcel Camprubi and Briton Thomas Gloag, were reportedly hit by a police motorbike during the Tre Valli Varesine race in Italy. The incident occurred with six laps remaining of the finishing circuit, according to Pinarello Q36.5 leader Tom Pidcock.

Pidcock stated that a police motorbike was travelling the wrong way down the course when it collided with his teammates. Camprubi was able to continue the race, but Gloag abandoned and required stitches in his knee.

The incident follows a series of issues concerning rider safety and course security in professional cycling. Six riders have reportedly died in road races over the past three years.
