A British couple detained in Iran for over 20 months, Lindsay and Craig Foreman, have been seen by UK officials for the first time in 112 days, their family has stated. The couple, who deny espionage charges and were sentenced to 10 years in jail, were visited at Evin Prison.
According to Lindsay's son, Joe Bennett, the couple are in better spirits. Craig Foreman reportedly told officials he had regained approximately 1.6 stone (10kg) of the 2.7 stone (17kg) he lost following a hunger strike that ended in August.
Prison authorities have now agreed that the couple, from East Sussex, should be allowed a weekly family call. This visit follows a meeting two weeks ago where Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband reiterated the British government's request for their immediate release to Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi.
