Police drop assault investigation into England bowler Brydon Carse

An investigation into an alleged assault involving England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been closed by Derbyshire Police.

England fast bowler Brydon Carse will face no further police action after Derbyshire Police dropped an investigation into an alleged assault in Derby last month.

Footage of Carse in handcuffs and surrounded by police on Sunday, 23 August, appeared on social media. Police confirmed he had been arrested and then de-arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

Derbyshire Police stated on Friday that an investigation into reports of an assault in Derby city centre has been closed. Officers had attended Molly Malones in The Wardwick, Derby, in the early hours of 23 August.

Carse will now be subject to an investigation from the Cricket Regulator. He was previously removed from England squads for the second and third Tests against Pakistan and the white-ball series with Sri Lanka.
