A police interview from December 2008, in which Duane 'Keffe D' Davis reportedly admitted his role in the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur, has been played in court during Davis's ongoing murder trial in Las Vegas. Davis, 63, has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder with use of a deadly weapon.
During the recording, Davis identified himself as the front passenger in the rented white Cadillac that pulled alongside the BMW carrying Shakur and Suge Knight on September 7, 1996. He claimed he passed a loaded gun to the back seat, where Orlando 'Baby Lane' Anderson reportedly took the weapon and fired shots.
Prosecutors allege Davis orchestrated the drive-by attack, though he is not accused of firing the shots himself. Davis's defence attorney, Michael Sanft, argues that Davis fabricated these accounts for personal gain and that investigators did not charge him after the 2008 interview because they did not find his story credible.
The trial, which began on Monday, August 17, is expected to continue for several more weeks. Prosecutors contend the attack was retaliation for Shakur and his entourage beating Anderson hours earlier at the MGM Grand.
