Derbyshire Police are investigating allegations of an assault in Derby city centre, following an incident on Saturday night involving England bowler Brydon Carse. Images circulating on social media showed Carse in handcuffs and surrounded by police officers.
The 31-year-old was briefly arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly outside Molly Malone's bar, but was de-arrested shortly afterwards after agreeing to leave the area, police said. No arrests have yet been made in connection with the alleged assault, and the investigation is ongoing.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated the incident would be investigated by the Cricket Regulator, leading to Carse's removal from the England squad for the second Test against Pakistan. The ECB has not commented further, and Carse has been approached for a response.
