West Yorkshire Police have renewed an appeal for information 21 years after a father died in a house fire in Shipley. James Tomlin, 36, died from smoke inhalation after his home on Prospect Grove was deliberately set alight on 15 August 2005.
His pregnant fiancée and the couple's two sons were rescued by firefighters. Detective Inspector Steve King of West Yorkshire Police stated that the force remains committed to finding those responsible for his death.
The appeal was launched on the anniversary of Mr Tomlin's death, with officers hoping that friendships and loyalties may have changed over the years, encouraging people to come forward now. Det Insp King added that developments in forensic science mean unsolved cases can be reviewed using modern technology.
Police believe the person responsible may have told someone what they did that night and said any new information, no matter how small, could assist investigators. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.
