Bonnier Books, the main publisher of true crime writer Christopher Berry-Dee, has dropped the author following a Guardian investigation into allegations of violence and sexual abuse. Mr Berry-Dee denies the allegations.
Bonnier Books UK stated it will no longer publish Mr Berry-Dee, will not work with him on future projects, and is terminating all existing agreements. The publisher also confirmed it would remove existing stocks from the market.
Waterstones has also removed Mr Berry-Dee's books from sale in its shops and online after being informed by Bonnier that they would no longer publish his works.
The Guardian investigation, published on Saturday, detailed multiple allegations against the 78-year-old author, including domestic violence and the sexual assault of a 13-year-old student. Mr Berry-Dee, who is the UK's top-selling true crime author, refused an interview for the piece, citing health issues, but denied the accusations, stating: “I have not once committed any of the crimes you accuse me of.”
