Rachel Cusk's latest work, 'Life of M', explores observations on fame through a fictional biography of a film star. The character in the novel is said to sound very much like Natalie Portman.
The book, set in Cusk's characteristic sans serif typeface, is seen as a continuation of her pivot to autofiction following the 'Outline' trilogy. The New York Times reviewed 'Life of M' as "rarefied, cosmopolitan, self-serious".
A sample line from the novel reads: “Everything I did or said in her company was false. It was as if I was acting, while M came across as authentic and real.”
