Former England forward Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide, police have confirmed. The charges stem from a crash involving a Lamborghini on the M3 motorway.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight constabulary stated that the charges relate to a single-vehicle collision on the M3 southbound, near Minley interchange, which occurred on 28 May. The 31-year-old is accused of dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, and failing to provide a specimen.
The force reported that no other vehicles were involved in the collision and no injuries were sustained. Mr Sterling, from Berkshire, is scheduled to appear at Basingstoke magistrates court for a hearing on 15 September.
