Richarlison excluded from Tottenham's Carabao Cup squad for Liverpool tie

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed Richarlison will not be part of the squad for Tuesday's Carabao Cup match against Liverpool, following his omission from the Premier League list.

  • Richarlison will not be in Tottenham's squad for the Carabao Cup tie at Liverpool.
  • He was previously left out of Spurs' 25-man Premier League list for being surplus to requirements.
  • Manager Roberto De Zerbi stated he had proposed a contract extension to Richarlison, who declined.

Richarlison will not feature in Tottenham's Carabao Cup match against Liverpool on Tuesday, manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed. The forward was previously omitted from Spurs' 25-man Premier League player list earlier this month, having been deemed surplus to requirements by the club.

Despite failing to secure a departure, Richarlison remains eligible for domestic cup competitions. However, De Zerbi stated that the former Everton player, who reportedly rejected a move to Vasco da Gama on Friday, will not be included in the squad.

De Zerbi clarified his position, stating, "What I have done at the beginning of this season has been to speak with him and to propose an extension of the contract. If he said, ‘no thank you,’ I finished my job." Richarlison responded to the decision on social media with the word "Why?" and a 'crying face' emoji.

Tottenham will also be without Pedro Porro and Sandro Tonali for the midweek trip to Anfield. De Zerbi indicated he would not make wholesale changes for the cup tie, despite a goalless draw against Everton in their last league outing.
