Spain midfielder Rodri has arrived in Barcelona to complete his transfer from Manchester City, stating it is his "dream" to play for the club. Barcelona has agreed to a fee of about £65m for the 30-year-old, who is expected to sign a four-year contract with the La Liga champions.
Speaking to journalists at the airport on Monday, Rodri expressed his happiness, saying, "I'm very happy to have arrived. The last few days have been intense, but I'm glad everything has been sorted out. Of course, playing for FC Barcelona is a dream." He added that he aims to win "the Champions League and everything else that comes our way" with Barca.
Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, made 298 appearances for City over seven seasons, securing 12 major honours including four Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2022-23. He recently led Spain to their second World Cup title this summer, where he was named player of the tournament, despite missing parts of the 2024-25 campaign due to a serious knee injury and last season with a hamstring issue.
