Overnight Russian missile and drone strikes have killed at least 12 people and injured 20 across Ukraine's capital Kyiv and the wider region, officials have stated. Among the casualties are six railway workers from the state Ukrzaliznytsia company, following a hit on a depot in Kyiv.
Eight people were killed in Kyiv, where fires were reported in three city districts. Another four people died in the nearby town of Boryspil after a residential building was struck. An Indian national, aged 26, was killed in Boryspil.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that nearly 350 rescue workers were active through the night in the affected areas. Russia stated its "massive strike using high-precision weapons" targeted Ukraine's military and energy facilities.
These strikes mark the sixth consecutive day of Russian drone and missile attacks on Kyiv. Eight other Ukrainian regions were also attacked, according to President Zelensky.
