The growing sauna culture in the UK is becoming a popular place for dating, with some individuals using the heated rooms for first dates and others sparking new relationships.
Jake Rocking, who operates a sauna at Weston Marine Lake in North Somerset, suggested that "sauna is the new pub." Other sauna owners are considering hosting speed dating events, believing the intimate environment helps people connect without the usual distractions of phones and alcohol.
Adam Merrell, co-founder of Suvi Sauna, which has locations in Bristol and Clevedon, is among those exploring speed dating or singles nights. Lexy Recurt, who established Black Swan Sauna near Bradford upon Avon, recalled hosting a private first date over the summer and has heard of couples getting engaged in saunas.
Costas Hadjipateras of Bristol Community Sauna noted that many first dates occur at his establishment, while Neema Abbassi, co-founder of Fire and Ice, confirmed that relationships have emerged from their saunas.
