A seagull has survived after being wedged into the front of a car travelling at high speed on the A1M motorway. The incident occurred as a driver travelled from Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, towards Darlington train station.
The driver was unaware the bird was stuck until receiving a message reporting it. Darlington Bird Rescue was called and found the gull completely stuck in the vehicle's grill.
Laura Hewitt, founder of Darlington Bird Rescue, stated the gull had no major scrapes or wounds, only minor leg scrapes and damaged feathers. The bird will receive monitoring, painkillers, and food as it recovers.
