Antoine Semenyo has expressed his readiness to step into a centre-forward role for Manchester City this season, despite suggesting he has not been directly informed of the club's intentions. The Ghanaian forward stated, "I've heard about his back-up striker thing. I don't know where it's come from, but if I need to, then I'll do it. I've no problem in doing that."
City reportedly plans to utilise Semenyo as a striker when Erling Haaland is unavailable, following Omar Marmoush's transfer to Tottenham. Semenyo, who has previously played as both a left and right winger since joining from Bournemouth, demonstrated his scoring ability with a brace in Sunday’s 5-3 win against Sunderland, marking his first goals of the season.
Semenyo also shared his positive experience under new manager Enzo Maresca, noting that the style of play suits wide players. Manchester City has commenced the Premier League season with a perfect record and has secured victories in their last seven matches across all competitions.
