A tourist coach has crashed in the south-eastern Swiss Alps, with local police confirming several fatalities and injuries. The bus, carrying 48 Dutch passengers, overturned late on Thursday afternoon between Susch and Zernez in the Graubünden region.
A large team of rescuers, equipped with multiple helicopters, was deployed to the scene of the accident. Images on Swiss news sites show the coach on its side beside a narrow country road, with numerous ambulances and rescue personnel present.
A spokeswoman for the General Dutch Association of Travel Companies, speaking on behalf of tour operator OAD, stated that the exact number of those killed or injured could not yet be confirmed. The coach reportedly departed from the Netherlands on Monday and was on a day trip to Switzerland from Austria when the incident occurred.
